Legend Leaves Vegas

Published by mrivers at 9:01 am under Stage Edit This

Las Vegas is loosing another legend.  The legend isn’t a hotel being imploded by a ton of dynamite.  This time, the legend can be imploded by simply turning out the lights.   The show, “Les Folies Bergere,” will go dark on March 28, 2009.  The topless revue ran for 49 years.  That is a lot of feathers, showgirls, sequins and high heels.

“Folies Bergere enjoyed an amazing and unprecedented run on the Las Vegas Strip,” said Ron Thacker, Tropicana Las Vegas President. “We are extremely proud to have been part of such an iconic Las Vegas production and offer a sincere thank you to the cast, crew and support staff for their many years of excellence.”

“Les Folies Bergere” traveled from Paris to Las Vegas in 1959.  The show played at the Tropicana for its entire run.  The name and theme of a new show has not been revealed.

Whatever it is, I doubt it will run for 49 years.  This is something very few legends achieve.
